BERKELEY, Calif. — October 27, 2026. Berkeley is asking residents to complete an online survey by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2026, comparing draft concepts for a potential new West Berkeley neighborhood park.
What the proposal includes
The approximately 15,000-square-foot vacant lot is next to 1326 Allston Street, near North Valley Street. The city says the concepts may include green space, paths, garden areas, trees, gathering places, enclosed dog areas and fitness equipment. Feedback will help staff refine a preferred concept for a competitive state grant application.
The grant proposal would also seek funding for cleanup of past contaminants at the site. A preferred design is scheduled to be discussed at a community meeting on November 12.
What remains open
The city has not announced that every element shown in the draft concepts will be built, that grant funding has been awarded, or that a construction and opening date is confirmed. Residents can review the concepts and reach the survey through the official City of Berkeley notice.
